With the win, the Buccaneers improved their overall record to 16-5 and conference record to 12-3.

“We played really hard, took good shots, and defended well,” head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “It was the last home game for a lot of these kids, and this class went 41-12 with just three losses in the Kruse Center, so this class is special. The Kruse Center has been great for these kids, so I hope the fans who came have really appreciated watching them because they gave everything they had.”

Five Buccaneers scored double-digit points and Blinn totaled 13 3-pointers in the win. Hailey Atwood led the Buccaneers with 19 points, Alex Bowman followed with a season-high 15, Telisha Brown scored 13, Rebekah Malik tallied 12, and Keaundra Eddings totaled 11. In addition, Chynell Mitchell and Wynter Taylor each recorded six points.

“The biggest highlight of today’s game was that everybody had the opportunity to play, and it was great watching them and cheering for them when they scored,” Atwood said. “It is a great milestone and accomplishment to put up the record we did in two seasons, so I definitely think that has to do with coaching, recruiting, and just being focused and aggressive. Everybody understands that we are family, and we come out here with one goal, and that is to win and stay together.”

The Buccaneers opened the game with a 19-6 lead as Brown led the way with two shots from downtown. Bowman put up four points in the midst of an 11-5 run in the final three minutes of the quarter for Blinn to lead 30-11.

Blinn took off on a 10-0 run to start the second quarter as Brown made two more 3-pointers. Malik jumped in with two 3-pointers for Blinn to lead 47-16. Atwood led the Buccaneers with four points on a 7-0 run for Blinn to enter the break with a 56-21 advantage.

Eddings got things started with a 3-pointer out of the half and Malik hit back-t0-back shots from downtown for Blinn to lead 71-28. Acajia Dickerson and Taylor each made 3-pointers in a 13-4 run for the Buccaneers to extend their lead to 84-34 to conclude the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Taylor and Bowman made two straight 3-pointers for Blinn to lead 94-39. Coastal Bend went on a run in the final minutes of the game before the Buccaneers claimed the 39-point victory.

“I am going to miss the atmosphere and the crowd because it is definitely an amazing feeling to play at the Kruse Center,” Atwood said. “I love how everyone comes to every game and supports us. It gives it an arena vibe, and that is important, especially for going on to the next level when it is time.”

Next, the Buccaneers will wrap up the regular season with an away game against Panola College on Saturday at 4 p.m.

BOSSIER CITY, La. — The Blinn College men’s basketball team fell to Bossier Parish Community College, 73-68, on the road Wednesday night.

With the loss, the Buccaneers are now 10-9 overall and 8-9 in Region XIV play.

“We competed and played hard, but we missed some shots that we normally make,” head coach Scott Schumacher said. “We did not do a good job of keeping them off the offensive glass. When you are on the road you have to be able to make open shots and keep them off the glass.”

Davion Coleman led Blinn’s offense with 24 points.

Bossier Parish played a solid first half to grab a 42-34 lead. The Buccaneers came back to outscore the Cavaliers in the second half, 34-31, but it wasn’t enough for the win.

Next, the Buccaneers will conclude the regular season against Panola College on Saturday, April 3, at 4 p.m. in the Kruse Center. The game will feature Sophomore Day.
