BRENHAM POLICE OFFICER ARRESTED ON DOMESTIC CHARGES

KWHI has learned that a Brenham Police officer was arrested over the weekend.

Brenham Police Chief Ron Parker has confirmed that the Washington County Sheriff’s Department arrested Police Officer Marley Mayo on Sunday.  She was released the same day on $5,000 bond.

Mayo faces charges of: Interfere With Emergency Request for Assistance and Assault Cause Bodily Injury – Family Member.

In a statement released by Chief Parker, late Monday afternoon following an inquiry by KWHI:

“The Brenham Police Department was made aware of an investigation of one of its officers, Officer Marley Mayo, over the weekend involving allegations of a criminal offense.”

Parker added, the “investigation is on-going and being conducted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and as such, we must refer any questions regarding the details of that matter to their office so as not to interfere with their case.”

Parker has ordered an internal administrative investigation in to the matter as well, and says he is unable to comment further on that internal affairs investigation.

Parker also confirmed that Mayo has been placed on Suspension, pending the completion of the criminal investigation by the Sheriff’s Department, and the completion of the Brenham Police Department’s internal affairs investigation.

“She has been temporarily relieved of all official duties and law enforcement authority until the matter is concluded.”

  1. Looks as though she may have been hit a few times herself. Don’t judge lest ye be judged!! Don’t know the situation, but if somebody hits me I’m not gonna stand there for.

    1. We obviously know only what the media has reported, but there is visible evidence that she, too has been violated. We should not be so quick to judge when we only have a minimal information.

  2. She is a sweet and caring person and I hope she’s able to come
Back from this! Moms trying to protect their children and this is how they are treated and it’s so very sad!!

  3. To those of you who may be uneducated….officers today have an unprecedented amount of responsibility that not everyone is willing to respect. We are all humans and humans do make mistakes. Most law enforcement personnel are on the side of upholding the law in a respectable manner. LET’S NOT FORGET THAT! Matthew 7:1-3 7 “Do not judge, so that you will not be judged. 2 For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

    1. We are indeed all humans and all of our lives matter. All of us are imperfect. All of us are owed the same standard of respect being graciously extended by the public to the accused in this matter. Let us now imagine if the person in question were not a law enforcement officer. Imagine them being poorer, less attractive, or darker-skinned. Would the comments here still be so generous? Would our community extend the better angels of our nature unto such a person? Family violence occurs regularly in our community, so these questions are not merely rhetorical. One can observe the vile, ignorant, and judgmental thoughts in other cases. More damning is that one can observe silence from those who speak kind words only now, but not then.

      1. Yes. I think the comments would absolutely have been equally as generous toward some of our great officers with a darker complexion. There are darker-skinned officers in this community that have a lot of respect among all. They would no doubt be given the benefit of the doubt. You jump to race regularly I suspect.

        1. Jon you misread the comment!

“Let us now imagine if the person in question were NOT a law enforcement officer. Imagine them being poorer, less attractive, or darker-skinned. Would the comments here still be so generous? Would our community extend the better angels of our nature unto such a person?

      2. Hear, hear! Truth is especially beautiful, when one is courageous enough to express it & not just think it. God bless and keep you, dear sister or brother. You are leading by example and that is so needed everywhere on earth, and in Brenham, for sure!
        No fear = Know peace.

  4. Sadly even if the woman fights to protect herself she will too be arrested. Not sure if that is the case here, but I have dealt with this officer personally do to a similar situation with my ex and child. She was classy and professional. Woman cannot let themselves be beat and just lie down while they do it no matter the occupation, very sad . Knowing this area, regardless of what happened they will make her resign which is very sad that that is the way this town is…..

    1. educate yourself first before hating on others. or even walk a mile in her shoes, then you might understand.

    2. ANGELA WATSON, Just because she was arrested doesn’t make her guilty of anything!!! The only thing an arrest means is there was probable cause to believe a crime was committed!!! The majority of people would never be LE during this anti-law enforcement era. As the media is so fond of doing now, lets not convict her in the in the media before she has her chance to stand trial and defend herself.

      1. But if she were to be African American or Hispanic would you still be defending her?
Just makes me think of others that have been arrested and they get laughed at without knowing theirs stories as well.

        1. Well, if you judge people by the color of their skin, and not the content of their character, then yes. Race is not the issue here, it is the employment status of this young lady that makes it controversial.
Ask yourself, why does race matter to you???

          1. I for one hope that she is treated by our law enforcement, corrections, and legal system, as well as in the court of public opinion, in exactly the same way as it treats men, minorities, non-citizens, the poor, or ordinary civilians. I say this not out of spite for her as an individual or as an officer of the law, but out of hope that justice is in fact blind. If anything, those in our community that serve us and that mete out justice by their hand ought to be held to a higher standard.

  5. She is a very sweet person.. domestic violence is at a all time high right now. Look at her face.. this is soooo sad!

  6. She is an awesome Officer and Person. She should get all the benefits of the doubts, and we all should wait to she what happens after both sides have their time in court.
Officers are just people, trying to do their best.
I hope both sides are okay, and can work out their problems.
