The driver of a dump truck was taken to the hospital after the truck turned over this (Friday) morning by Whataburger in Brenham.

Brenham Fire Chief Roger Williams said authorities received a call just after 9:45 a.m. of a dump truck tipping over in the driveway to the restaurant, at 2801 Highway 36 South.  The driver was reported to be trapped inside the truck, which was hauling dirt and had spilled its load.

Firefighters extricated the driver through the front window of the truck.  He was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Brenham with unknown injuries.

Arens Services assisted in righting the dump truck and used a skid loader to help remove dirt and oil leakage in the driveway before towing the truck away.

Units also had to pull a pickup truck out from underneath the dump truck, which, according to Williams, slid into the front quarter panel of the pickup when it tipped over.  The driver of the pickup was uninjured.

Brenham Police Captain Lloyd Powell said it appears the truck turned too sharply into the driveway, but the incident remains under investigation.
