RENOVATIONS AT GERMANIA INSURANCE LEAD JANUARY BUILDING PERMITS
Continued renovations at a local insurance agency led the City of Brenham’s building permits for the month of January.

The city issued a $2,271,308 permit to Germania Insurance at 507 Highway 290 East for interior remodeling of the second floor. This comes after the company took out permits last May worth over $3.5 million to remodel the first floor and credit union area. The work is contracted to Chappell Hill Construction Company.
The second largest permit of the month was issued to Zoe Murphy Compton LLC for $625,000 for interior remodeling and additions to a house moved onto a lot in the 700 block of South Baylor Street. An additional permit was taken out for $25,000 to remodel an accessory building on the property. Work is being handled by The Craftsman Group.
Eight new homes were permitted in January for $1,119,397.
The city issued a total of 25 permits worth $4,221,556 in January, compared to 29 permits for $1,703,222 last January.
