Two more businesses at the Baker Katz shopping center in Brenham are now open.

Hobby Lobby officially opened its 55,000 square-foot retail facility at Highway 290 East and South Chappell Hill Street on Friday, according to the company’s website.  Darin Faught is the store manager.

The store is Hobby Lobby’s 111th location in Texas and joins more than 900 Hobby Lobby stores across the nation.  It is the nation’s largest privately-owned arts and crafts retailer, with each store offering over 70,000 crafting and home décor products.

Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and closed on Sunday.

  1. What we truly need is another grocery store like an Aldis or Fiesta.. a lot of people from the surrounding areas come to Brenham to shop. I think that will be even more so with the cost of gas. I’m tired of having H-E-B and Walmart offering the same things and having no choice. H-E-B only sells what is best for THEM and Walmart competes by doing the same. I think there are a lot of people ready for a change.I’d welcome a Krogers even!

    1. Aldi’s is a fantastic store. The one in Bryan is great. Very high quality for low cost. Cheaper than HEB or Walmart.
It would be nice to have another option here locally.

  2. I think its great adding jobs to the Brenham area. I like supporting my local community. Not to mention the gas savings! Now how about another grocery
    store?

    1. Go to Brookshire Bros.
      Well stocked, clean,
      nice personnel
      Great customer service.
      How have you missed it.
      Downtown.

  3. It’s about time Brenham starts growing. A few other businesses that would be nice in Brenham. Academy, Chick-fil-A and a Urgent care walk-in clinic to name a few.

      1. An In-n-Out burger, or Culver’s would be much, much better than a Chick-fil-A.
In my opinion, it is an overpriced, overrated food chain, and it’s closed on Sundays. An Academy goes without saying, but I do think one is coming eventually???
Whatever happened, it is good to see.

        1. Every Christian needs to ask themselves if supporting business on a Sunday is helping or hurting the Great Commission and is it done out of love?

Or do you as a Christian see it as “just business” in that tired and thoughtless old mantra .
You could make the argument that the Sabbath is not supposed to be on Sunday or that you’re just too good to be around all those hypocrites but that would just be a copout.

Furthermore, morality is on the decline or is it not?
You might say Chick-fil-A is one of the few that has the fortitude to reject a very poorly thought out trend in our country.

          1. This debate will lead us all toward a “spiritual rabbit hole”. As most church goers are CINO and this nation has made a mockery of “one Nation under God”, one has to admire the business model of Chick-fil-A for being closed on Sunday. Genuine Christians will take their faith into board rooms and implement them into a dynamic lifestyle that makes a positive impact in the lives of others. A CINO uses the imagery and status of Christianity to profit off of those who are attempting to live decent lives. The Jewish Sabbath is Saturday. Gentile Christians worship on the 1st day of the week modeling the example set by the Lord’s Apostles and early Church following the resurrection of Jesus Christ. No judgement on those who worship on Saturday nor is any superior spiritual status ascribed to those who worship on Sunday. Jesus is Lord of every day and is not offended! Misinformed religious zealots are. For the purpose of “saving life or doing good” some businesses have to be open on Sunday. For the rest of us the issue should be converting the minds and hearts of CINO (Christians In Name Only). Imagine a Christian slave holder or a Christian rapist or a Christian bigot! Can one be both Black and white; a Christian and a racist? Is a Christian attorney more qualified than one who is not a Christian? Would a politician who is a Christian lie, deceive or defraud those he/she represent? Would a Christian priest molest young boys and is it acceptable to cover it up so as not to disturb the money train? Blurred lines and a deep deep rabbit hole since society has chosen to re-define what it means to be a Christian. Authentic Christians know! Need we say more?

          2. News flash, many, many Christians would like to visit the Chick-fil-A on Sunday.
In fact, there are many Christians that would like to visit the Hobby Lobby on a Sunday.
Just because it is a Sunday, does not mean that all want everything closed, Christians or not.
In fact, most people only have time on the weekends to go out and do things.
Open or not, I still think it is overpriced and over-rated, in my opinion.

          3. Not quite sure if you are for them closing on Sunday or not, but I think it’s a great idea! Give employees a much needed break and if it lines up with you religious beliefs, that is even better. Companies should take it upon themselves to make and keep their employees happy as it trickles down in all aspects of their life. Some of the most successful companies in this country have 6 hr work days and 4 day work weeks, with productivity at an all time high. So having businesses close on a Sunday, though inconvenient for us shoppers, it is such a blessing for the employees.

          4. Being Christian wasn’t even really brought up here but of course someone has to throw out the Christian guilt. That has to stop. This is 2022. You can be a Christian and support open businesses whenever they choose to be open.

Being narrow minded is not what Christians are supposed to be.

  4. Cool for MOD, next maybe a Chick-fil-A in Brenham!! That would make my kids so happy lol
