BLINN UNVEILS NEW SCHOLARSHIP FOR WASHINGTON CO. STUDENTS
Blinn College is launching a new scholarship exclusively for Washington County students.

The College announced today (Monday) that it has partnered with the College Foundation, using funds provided by Fred J. and Edwina Day Hallstein, to provide up to $1,000 in tuition support for in-district students for up to one academic year. The new scholarship becomes available to students in the fall.
Blinn Chancellor Dr. Mary Hensley said the College is “taking a very bold first step in providing access, affordability and success for our students with a scholarship unlike any other that we have ever had.”
Blinn Board Chair Jim Kolkhorst said the scholarship acts as another resource for students to advance toward their prospective careers.

Brenham ISD Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin said this scholarship will go a long way toward ensuring that local students have an opportunity to pursue higher education.

Burton ISD Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy said the district appreciates the ability to work alongside Blinn to further students’ educational journeys.
Scholarship funding covers up to 12 credit hours per semester, as well as non-credit classes, and is available for up to a year after students have graduated high school or earned their high school equivalency.
The scholarship has no need requirements and is disbursed on a “last-dollar basis,” meaning that scholarship funds will be applied toward eligible students’ tuition costs after all other financial aid awards have been applied toward their balance.
Eligibility requirements and more information about the scholarship are available at www.blinn.edu/scholarships.
