BURTON HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL NAMED NEW PRINCIPAL AT TAYLOR HIGH SCHOOL
Burton High School Principal Matthew Wamble has accepted a new position in an Austin-area school district.

Taylor ISD on Friday named Wamble the next principal of Taylor High School.
Wamble began working in Burton ISD in January 2019, following the retirement of high school principal Karen Steenken. His previous roles included serving as an athletic coordinator in Houston ISD and an assistant principal in Fort Bend ISD and Brenham ISD.
Wamble believes Taylor is a location that offers tremendous opportunity, and wants to be a part of it.
Wamble says he was proud to be the principal of Burton High School, and that it will be very difficult to leave.
Wamble says he will miss not being able to watch the district “transform” through the recently passed bond project, but plans to return upon its completion to see what has changed. He hopes to begin settling into Taylor with his family next month.
In Taylor ISD’s announcement, the school district said Wamble “has demonstrated an ability to focus on academic growth while providing a positive and well-managed school culture.”
