Burton ISD has created a video series for residents and taxpayers to learn more about the progress of the bond project.

The first of the bond update question and answer sessions, posted last week on the Burton Bond Info YouTube channel, provides a general overview of where the school district is at in the bond process and answers questions including what the construction timeline looks like and which buildings will be prioritized.

Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy said new buildings will precede the renovation of existing facilities.

Reliance Architecture President Antonio Naylor said it usually takes seven to nine months to go through the design process and create construction documents.  He said those documents should be complete in September, at which time the construction manager-agent, DSA, will move into receiving and evaluating bids before providing a recommendation to the district.  That process should last two to two-and-a-half months, but Naylor said an early bid package will be issued if possible in order to start site work earlier.

Naylor said construction should start this fall and take two years to wrap up.
