BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD TO DISCUSS BUDGET, PROPOSE TAX RATE

The Brenham School Board will continue budget talks at its meeting Monday.

Trustees will hold a workshop to discuss the projected 2022-23 budget.  They will also consider setting the proposed maintenance and operations (M&O) and interest and sinking (I&S) tax rates.

Following that, the board will schedule a date and time for a public hearing on the budget and tax rate.

In other action, the board will act on approval of COVID-19 retention pay for district staff.

Monday's agenda also includes:

  • Consideration of an agreement for the purchase of attendance credits and delegate contractual authority to the superintendent.
  • A vote on a resolution providing for the defeasance and calling for redemption certain currently outstanding obligations; directing that the board secretary, or her designee, effectuate the redemption of these obligations; authorizing the execution of an escrow agreement, and other matters in connection.  Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin said the resolution will help the district maintain its I&S tax rate at a similar rate and pay off bonded debt faster.
  • An executive session for personnel matters.

The board will meet Monday at noon in the Brenham ISD Administration Office.  The meeting will be livestreamed on Brenham ISD’s YouTube channel.
