The Blinn College men's soccer team raced past Dallas College-Cedar Valley on Tuesday, earning a 5-1 non-conference victory in Dallas County, Texas.

The Buccaneers improved to 3-0 and have given up just one goal so far this season.

Cedar Valley entered the match ranked ninth in the NJCAA Division II top-10 poll.

"This was a satisfying victory away from home," Blinn head coach Michael McBride said. "Twenty-seven of our players got valuable minutes under their belts, and we hope that depth serves to help us compete when we start Region XIV play."

The Buccaneers shut out the Suns in the first half while building a 4-0 lead.

Freshman forward David Garcia got Blinn on the board when fellow freshman forward and sophomore midfielder assisted him on a goal in the 23rd minute. Sophomore midfielder Abraham Lopez quickly added to the lead just 12 seconds later on an unassisted goal.

In the 34th minute, freshman defender Joe Loughnane scored on a free kick, and freshman forward Bryson Bolton added a score in the 37th minute on an assist from sophomore defender Peyton Robinson.

Sophomore forward Kamille Kum capped Blinn's offensive barrage with a tally in the 60th minute with the help of freshman defender Joshua Hernandez-Gutierrez and sophomore defender William Spellman.

Cedar Valley broke up the shutout in the 62nd minute.

Blinn out-shot the Suns 17-4. Seven of the Buccaneers' shots were on goal.

Sophomore keeper Kevin Pena was in goal for Blinn and earned his third victory of the year.

The Buccaneers continue their season on Wednesday, Aug. 31, when they host Albion Hurricanes FC at 7 p.m. at Hohlt Park's Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas.
