Two weeks of early voting begin Monday for the November 8th midterm elections and the Brenham ISD bond election.

Early voting at the Washington County Courthouse Annex will run 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the first Monday to Friday.  Weekend hours will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The second week of early voting, October 31-November 4, will start with hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, followed by extended hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and wrapping up with a return to 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.

Washington County ballots for voters in Brenham ISD will feature the two-proposition school district bond election.  Proposition A calls for a new junior high school to serve 1,450 students in grades 6-8 at a cost of $111 million.  Proposition B covers the renovation and expansion of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department at Brenham High School for $25 million.

If both propositions are approved, the school district tax rate would increase by an estimated $0.1500 per $100 valuation for the junior high school and another $0.0360 per $100 for the CTE upgrades.

Around the county, voters will participate in statewide races for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, comptroller, General Land Office commissioner, agriculture commissioner, railroad commissioner and others.

They will also choose one of three candidates for U.S. Congressional District 10 and one of two running for Texas Senate District 18.  For Congress, Republican incumbent Michael McCaul is challenged by Democrat Linda Nuno and Libertarian Bill Kelsey.  Meanwhile, Republican incumbent Lois Kolkhorst faces Democrat Josh Tutt for the Texas Senate seat.

The seat for Texas House District 12 is uncontested, and all county officeholders are unopposed.

There were over 24,600 registered voters in Washington County as of October 11th’s voter registration deadline.
