WASHINGTON CO. BURN BAN TO REMAIN IN PLACE FOR NOW

Fire chiefs in Washington County are not recommending the county’s burn ban be lifted just yet.

According to Washington County Firefighters Association President and Meyersville Volunteer Fire Chief Alan Winkelmann, six of the ten county fire chiefs voted in favor Monday of keeping the burn ban in place.  This comes after the county received rain this past week and looks to potentially get more in the coming days.

The county’s burn ban has been in effect since Wednesday, October 12th.  Much of the surrounding area is also under a burn ban.

The decision of Washington County Commissioners to lift a burn ban or keep it in place is based off of the recommendation of county fire chiefs.

The fire chiefs will meet again next Monday to take another vote on whether to continue with the burn ban or rescind it.
