Graduating Brenham High School seniors were recognized for their accomplishments Wednesday night at the high school’s 36th Annual Scholarship Ceremony.

Students received numerous scholarships at the event, hosted by the high school’s National Honor Society.

Brenham High School’s top graduates in the Class of 2023 are Grant Mayfield, named valedictorian with a grade point average of 4.8722, and Erin Keller, named salutatorian with a GPA of 4.7698.

Mayfield, the son of Joseph and Staci Mayfield, says learning rather than memorizing, along with being inquisitive, were the keys to his achievement.

Mayfield plans to study engineering at Texas A&M University.

Keller, the daughter of Brandon and Jill Keller, said time management was very important to her success.

Keller will attend the University of Texas at Austin where she will major in math, focusing on either applied math or statistics and data science.

There are 377 students set to graduate this year, including 137 honor graduates.

Brenham High School’s graduation ceremony will be held next Friday, May 26th at Cub Stadium, and will be broadcasted live by KWHI.
