PHASE 2 OF SOUTH CHAPPELL HILL STREET CONSTRUCTION BEGINS
The next phase of roadwork along South Chappell Hill Street in Brenham is getting underway.
A major reconstruction project began in March on the section of South Chappell Hill Street between Market Street and the Highway 290 feeder road. Work consists of removing the existing pavement, going back with an all-concrete street surface and replacing some sections of the curb.
Phase 2 of the project will have the contractor working on one side of the road at a time, between Stringer Street and Business 290. The road will be one-way, always westbound traffic from Business 290 to Stringer Street, with access coming strictly from the Highway 290 feeder. Once one side of the road is complete, traffic will be converted over and reconstruction will shift to the other side, with traffic flow still staying westbound.
The contractor will work with residents and businesses regarding access to their properties. At times, when concrete is scheduled to be poured, delays will occur but access will be allowed and worked around.
The city asks for continued patience during construction and that the public respects the work zones and workers’ safety.
Work is contracted to Larry Young Paving and is expected to conclude in August.
