BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. RESPONDS TO DUMPSTER FIRE AT APARTMENT

A dumpster fire was one of two calls responded to early this (Friday) morning by the Brenham Fire Department.

Around 12:15 a.m., firefighters were called out to the North Park Apartments at 910 North Park Street for a report of a structure fire.  When they arrived, they found a dumpster fully involved beside an apartment building.  Units used tank water to extinguish the fire and prevented any damage to the apartment building.

The department’s second call this morning came just before 2 a.m., when firefighters responded to an alarm at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South.  Units found a bad smoke detector was causing the alarm to sound and returned to service after resetting the alarm.

The fire department also had two calls on Thursday, both just before 8 a.m.

Firefighters responded to a fire alarm at RR Donnelley, 1903 FM 389, and found the alarm was triggered by a water leak dripping on a smoke detector.  They spoke to an employee and advised what was found before returning to service.

The other call was for a report of a gas smell inside a home in the 1700 block of South Jackson Street.  Both the Brenham Fire Department and Gas Department arrived to check the home, but no gas was found.
