HOLY CROSS HANDS BURTON PANTHERS 21-20 OT LOSS
It was a long ride back from San Antonio after the Burton Panthers lost an overtime heartbreaker to Holy Cross 21-20.
Holy Cross got on the board first to take an early 7-0 lead.
Burton came back to score on a 10-yard touchdown run by Drayton Oakes. The extra point was missed, but it still cut the lead 7-6 in the first quarter.
The Knights would score another touchdown, but miss the extra point to take a 13-7 lead going into the locker room at halftime.
Burton came out and scored on a 82-yard touchdown run by Weston Els. D'Mitry Schulte hit the extra point to tie it 13-13.
The game ended up going into overtime. Drayton Oakes scored his second touchdown run for Burton on a 19-yard run to make it 20-13.
Holy Cross then scored on a touchdown run to make it 20-19. They made the call to go for a two point conversion, and made it to win the game 21-20.
Tyrone Gilmon led Burton with 20 carries for 104 yards rushing.
The Panthers drop to 1-3 on the season. They move on to the start of district play next week as they travel to Falls City.
