BRENHAM BUSINESS OWNER FEATURED IN COLLABORATION WITH M&M’s, H-E-B

Sara Rojas, owner of A Little Piece of Mexico in
Brenham, holds up a special package of M&M's
with her picture on the back, along with a
description of how she celebrates Dia de los
Muertos. Rojas is part of a collaboration between
M&M's and H-E-B, along with two other influencers
around the state.

A Brenham business owner is partnering with two well-known brands to share her story.

Sara Rojas, owner of the pottery and clothing store A Little Piece of Mexico at 907 East Alamo Street, is part of a “Dia de Los Muertos” collaboration between M&M’s and H-E-B.  Specially marked packages of the candy can be found on H-E-B’s shelves, with the pattern of a monarch butterfly on the front and words on the back from Rojas about how she celebrates the holiday.

Rojas says it feels like she is “in a dream” and is honored to be able to represent her family and Brenham across Texas.

When Rojas was first contacted last summer about the opportunity, she says she initially thought it was a scam, but she decided to take part after learning more about how the companies were reaching out to individuals around the state to help showcase what Dia de Los Muertos means to them.  According to Rojas, she is one of three people who were selected for this partnership, the other two being a musician from Austin and a cook from Corpus Christi.

Included on the packages are QR codes that show a digital catalog of activities, including crafts and recipes for people to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos with their own decorations and food.

Since the limited-edition packages have become available in Texas, Rojas has had friends and customers from out of state ask her to send some to them.  She says while she has received local and regional media attention before, she never could have imagined anything on this scale.  She says the blessings keep coming because of the public’s support, and she cannot thank them enough.

As part of Rojas’ Dia de Los Muertos celebration, the store will host “Viva La Vida”, a Latin Hispanic market, on October 28th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  There will be a Dia de Los Muertos altar, and vendors will provide a range of goods along with candy for trick or treating.
