Two suspects that committed a “bank jugging” incident in College Station were arrested on Wednesday in Navasota.

According to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 12:20pm.

Bank jugging is when a suspect observes customers enter and exit a bank branch, a bank drive-through, or an ATM. The suspect will then follow the customers they believe are in possession of large amounts of cash and look for opportunities to burglarize the customer's vehicle or rob them directly.

In this instance, the victim reported to College Station Police that $1,500 and a firearm were stolen from his vehicle.  The suspects fled the scene in a newer red Volkswagen Taos with dark window tint.

Dtrik Nixon (Brazos County Jail)

Shortly before 1pm, Grimes County Patrol Sergeant Guadalupe Santana spotted the vehicle on Highway 6 heading south into Navasota.

Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Navasota Police Department stopped the vehicle and detained the suspects until College Station Police Detectives arrived on the scene.

After a search of the vehicle, all of the victim’s money, as well as the firearm were recovered.

The suspects were identified as Dtrik Nixon and Derek Harris of Houston.  Both were arrested and taken to the Brazos County Jail.  They were charged with Burglary of Vehicles, Theft of a Firearm, and Theft of Property $750-$2,500.

Nixon received an additional charge of Possession of Marijuana Under 2 oz.
