The freshly ranked Blinn College women's soccer team celebrated its first-ever appearance in the NJCAA Division I top 20 poll with a shutout road win Tuesday.

Less than 24 hours after cracking the rankings at No. 20, the Buccaneers defeated Texas Southmost College 4-0 in a Region XIV matchup in Brownsville, Texas.

Blinn is also now just one win from the Region XIV South Division title, which would serve as its first conference title of any kind during the program's short history. To capture the crown, the Bucs will need to take down Jacksonville College (7-2-1 Region XIV) when the two teams face off at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, at Rankin Field inside Hohlt Park in Brenham, Texas.

"I'm very happy with the result," Blinn head coach Alexandria Jackson said of the win over Texas Southmost. "The players were ready to perform at the highest level and did just that."

Jackson was able to deploy a majority of her roster Tuesday as her team improved to 11-3 overall and 8-2 in the region standings. The Bucs are currently enjoying their winningest season since women's soccer launched at Blinn in 2018.

Freshman forward MaKayla Police tallied two goals – both on assists from sophomore midfielder Brianna Hoffman – to lead the offensive effort. Police's tally in the sixth minute opened the scoring and she capped it with a tally in the 50th.

Sophomore forward Emeyda Cruz turned a give from sophomore defender Avery Stansbury into a goal in the 29th minute, and sophomore midfielder Rileigh Toner took an assist from Police and buried it in the 46th.

Blinn outshot Texas Southmost 16-4 and held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.

In goal for the Bucs was freshman keeper Cheiann George, who preserved the shutout with three saves.
