CITY OF GIDDINGS LIFTS ALL WATER RESTRICTIONS
Residents in Giddings are no longer under city-wide water restrictions.
The city announced that as of 8 a.m. this (Wednesday) morning, all water restrictions have been removed.
The city has had some form of water limitations since mid-July after one of its water wells failed. That, combined with the extreme heat over the summer, led to a critical water shortage and the enacting of Stage 4 restrictions. Eventually, those were lowered to Stage 2 and now, with the recent rain in the area, have been lifted entirely.
Work continues on replacing the water well, but Giddings City Manager Spencer Schneider told the Giddings Times & News that the rain has led to some delays. Schneider said the expected timeline for completion is later in November, potentially by Thanksgiving.
