CUBETTES AND LADY BEARS FACE OFF IN REGION QUARTERFINALS

The Brenham Cubette Volleyball Team meets up with a familiar foe tonight (Tuesday) when they take part in the Region Quarterfinal round of the playoffs.

The Cubettes and the Montgomery Lady Bears, both of whom are from District 21-5A, face each other for the third time this season at 7:30pm at Waller High School. KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 7:10pm on 1280AM, 101.7FM, and KWHI.com.

In their first meeting that occurred on September 22 at Brenham High School, the Cubettes won in a three set sweep 25-18, 26-24, and 25-20.

Their second meeting, which occurred on October 17 at Montgomery High School, was also won by the Cubettes in a three set sweep 25-19, 25-15, and 25-11.

Brenham finished district in second place with a 12-2 record. Montgomery finished district in a four way tie for third place with a 7-7 record, and had to win two play-in games over Magnolia and Lake Creek just to get into the playoffs.

Brenham swept Belton in the Bi-District Round 25-6, 25-13, and 25-18. They would then go on to sweep Austin McCallum in the Area Round 25-12, 25-13, and 25-13.

Montgomery went to five sets in both of their playoff games in order to advance. They defeated Killeen Ellison 3-2 in Bi-District, and then beat Georgetown 3-2 to win Area.

The winner of tonight's (Tuesday's) match will go on to face the winner of Fulshear-Manvel in the Region Semifinals on Friday at 5pm at the Merrell Center in Katy. The Region Championship Game is Saturday at noon, also at the Merrell Center.
