BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL HOLDS MEETING

  

It will cost more to use a city owned recreational facility beginning next year.  The Brenham City Council passed the new rates at their meeting Thursday afternoon. The rates will follow the rates charged by the Blue Bell Aquatic Center.  It has been 5 years since those rates were increased, and they have experienced much higher chemical costs as well as the cost of part-timers has gone up.  There is also an additional cost for being a Non-City Resident.  For instance:  The fee for Daily Admission to the Blue Bell Aquatic Center will change to $5 for City Residents and $8 for Non-Residents. 

The council also approved the motion of distributing evenly all their 513 votes among the candidates for the Washington County Appraisal District Board to serve a two-year term beginning January 1 of next year.  They also approved a bid of $307 per ton of bulk fine quick lime delivered to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. This was a steep increase from the $130 per ton cost that was paid in the past, but as Bobby Keene, Director of Water and Wastewater for the City pointed out, the new bid came with delivery, which took out some of the increase.  Finally, the council also approved the project having to do with Progress and Valley Drives Drainage Improvements.  The lowest bid was for Texas KB Utilities, based in Chappell Hill, TX.

The Brenham City Council also approved, without discussion, the items on the Consent Agenda.  They were:

• The City of Brenham 2024 Holiday Calendar.
• A Lease Agreement Between the City of Brenham and       Ricoh USA, Inc. for the Leased Office Automation Equipment.
• Approve Change Order and Final Payment to KRPS Contractors LLC., In the Amount of $36,679, Related to the Brenham Family Park Main Creek Crossing.
• Change Order to Dudley Construction, In the Amount of $5,705. Related to the 2022 Sanitary Sewer Improvements-Stone Hollow Lift Station Replacement.
• The Ratification of the Award of the Bid Related to Janitorial Services, to Kustom Klean Janitorial Services, Inc. in the Amount of $560.
• An Amendment to the Bid Awarded to Kustom Klean Janitorial Services, Inc, in the Amount of $840.00 Per Year, for Additional Janitorial Services at the Brenham Municipal Airport.
