A ribbon cutting will be held on Saturday, February 24th at 9:45 a.m. for the grand opening of a new furniture building at 307 North Brazos Street, right behind The Corner Shoppe in Burton. The event will have giveaways and goodies for visitors, along with coffee from Neon Moon Coffee Roasters.
The furniture ministry generates revenue for the Burton Bridge Ministry to help support its available services, but also provides furnishings to those in need or on a budget. It is coordinated by furniture leader Julie Mallette, who has been moving inventory over from the old Foehner Funeral building to the new location.
The merchandise changes regularly, but for the grand opening, shoppers will be able to find items like baker’s racks, pie safes, rustic wooden benches, outdoor furniture, an Adirondack chair, a two-basin outdoor doggy washtub and designer upholstery pieces.
Beginning in March, the furniture building will be open the same hours as the thrift store: Thursdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
