CUBETTES RUN-RULE RUDDER 10-0 ON MABIE WALKOFF HOMER

After getting off to a slow start, the Brenham Cubette Softball Team put the foot on the gas pedal in the third inning and never had to look back as they defeated Rudder 10-0 in six innings tonight (Friday).

In the bottom of the third, Halle Scheel singled, and then stole both second and third. Kaylyn Rodriguez walked, and stole second. Sarah Mabie, in the first of her big hits on the night, slugged a two run triple to bring them both home, and make it 2-0 Cubettes. Mabie later scored on a wild pitch. Annie Beckendorf drew a walk, and then Avery Maurer followed with a two-run homer to give Brenham a 5-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, Nevaeh Holmes drew a walk, and stole second. Halle Scheel reached on an error. Kaylyn Rodriguez hit a sacrifice fly to score Holmes. Mabie came up next, and hit an RBI double that brought home Scheel to make it 7-0 Cubettes.

Brenham scores two more times in the fifth inning. Maurer led off with a single, stole second, and then scored on an RBI single by McKenzie Tiemann. Tiemann later scored on an RBI groundout by Scheel. This gave the Cubettes a 9-0 advantage.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Sarah Mabie sent the Brenham crowd home happy with a walkoff solo homer to bump the lead up to 10-0, and enforcing the mercy rule.

Kylie Baker went the distance to get the win in the circle, going six shutout innings, and striking out ten.
