DPS INVESTIGATING FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH IN GRIMES COUNTY

  

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash in Grimes County on State Highway 105, west of County Road 446, that occurred this (Friday) morning.

According to DPS Sgt. Justin Ruiz, the preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 7:43 a.m., a 2015 Freightliner truck was traveling eastbound.

At the same time, a 2021 Nissan passenger car was traveling westbound, crossed the center line, and struck the Freightliner head-on.

The driver of the Nissan, 29-year-old Kaylin Corbin of Benbrook, and a 3-year-old passenger were transported to St. Joseph Regional Health Hospital with suspected serious injuries.

A 4-year-old passenger was transported by medical helicopter to Memorial Herman with suspected serious injuries.

The front seat passenger, 31-year-old Jon Archer of Benbrook, was pronounced dead at the scene by Grimes County Precinct Three Justice of the Peace Mark Laughlin.

The driver of the Freightliner was not injured.

Ruiz said that the investigation is ongoing, and there is no additional information available for release at this time.
