BRENHAM POLICE DETAIN SUSPECT AFTER PURSUIT NEAR KRAUSE ELEMENTARY

Brenham Police and Brenham ISD have confirmed that one person was detained following a pursuit this (Monday) afternoon near Krause Elementary School.

According to Interim Brenham Police Chief Lloyd Powell, officers were engaged in a short vehicle pursuit in the old Chappell Hill Road area.

Powell said the person in question was tracked to the area of Krause Elementary School, but officers were able to stop him just shy of the school on foot.

The case is under further investigation.

Brenham ISD sent out a press release saying that all the students were safe and secure within the school premises.

Dismissal procedures continued as usual, and there was no cause for concern regarding the safety of their students.

Brenham ISD also said that they are grateful for the swift response and support provided by the Brenham Police Department in ensuring the safety of the school community.

  1. As a teacher at Krause Elementary, I am so impressed by the way this situation was handled by all. We got the lock-down announcement and everyone from administration to teachers to other staff jumped right into action to make sure all of the students were safe. We’re trained for situations, but it’s usually practice. Way to go Krause!!!

    1. Absolutely agree with this! Our students handled the situation amazingly! While I am sad that we live in a world where students have to be trained for lockdowns, today I was proud of how they handle it!
