NAVASOTA FALLS TO SAN ELIZARIO IN STATE SEMIFINALS

Their first ever trip to the State Soccer Tournament for the Navasota Rattlers ended in heartbreak last (Wednesday) night with a 1-0 double overtime loss to San Elizario Eagles in Georgetown.

Navasota had won their two Regional matches on penalty kicks and looked to be going that route again.

However, the Eagles managed to score with two minutes left in the second overtime period.

The Rattlers finished the season with a record of 23-3-1.

This (Thursday) morning, the Rattlers received multiple honors as the All District Selections were announced. Rattler Head Coach Brian Lopez was named as the District's Coach of the Year.

Juan Vargas was named as the Goalkeeper of the Year, while Fabian Perez was named Utility Player of the Year, and Salvador Paz was named Defender of the Year. Vargas, Perez, Paz, and Adrian Castillo all receive First Team All District Honors.

Ricardo Alvarado, Giovanni Perez, and Israel Yanez were named Second Team All District.

Rodrigo Hernandez, Nolan Ruiz, Joe Alvera, and Christian Garcia receive Honorable Mention All-District recognition.
