BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. RESPONDS TO CRASH, TWO ALARM CALLS SUNDAY

A crash and two alarms were the Brenham Fire Department’s three calls on Sunday.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m., the department was dispatched to the 2500 block of Highway 290 West for a transportation incident.  Units arrived to find a three-vehicle accident with fluids leaking.  They used dry absorbent on the spill and checked for injuries, but there were none to report.  All vehicles were removed from the roadway, and the department returned to service.

Just past 1:30 p.m., firefighters received a report of an alarm sounding at Republic Services, 1709 Highway 36 North.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building when they arrived.  Units walked the building and found no smoke or fire.  They tried to reset the alarm but could not, so an employee was advised to have an alarm company come check the system.

Shortly after 6:45 p.m., BFD members responded to another alarm, this one at Prairie Lea Hall, 911 West Fifth Street.  When they arrived, they found nothing showing from the outside of the building.  They later discovered that the alarm was caused by someone cooking in the oven.  Firefighters used a fan to remove the light smoke from inside the building and reset the alarm.
