LADY PANTHERS SHUTOUT NORMANGEE 16-0 IN THREE INNINGS

The Burton Lady Panthers wrapped up their regular season with a big exclamation point as they defeated Normangee 16-0 last (Tuesday) night.

Burton got the game started off on a good note with nine runs in the bottom of the first inning. Reagan Roemer led off with a triple. Kalli Pohl was up next, and got hit by a pitch. Amaya Williams reached on an error, which allowed Roemer to come in and score. Aerynn Huntsman was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jennifer Lopez followed with a two-run triple to give Burton a 3-0 lead.

Huntsman would later score on a passed ball. Melanie Wood singled in Lopez to extend the Lady Panther lead to 5-0. Katy Whitfield was hit by a pitch. Abby Dowling reaches on an error that allowed Wood and Whitfield to come home. Roemer doubled home Dowling to expand the Burton lead to 8-0. Bailey Glaesmann then singled home Roemer to make it 9-0 after one inning.

After the two teams exchanged zeroes in the second inning, Burton put the game away with seven runs in the bottom of the third inning. Williams hit a solo homer to make it 10-0 Lady Panthers. Glaesmann followed with a double, and Kara Landriault came in to courtesy run for her. Huntsman singled, and Lopez reached on an error that allowed Landriault to come home. Whitfield reached on an error that let Huntsman score to make it 12-0 Burton.

Dowling walked to load the bases. Roemer also walked, which let Lopez come in to score. Pohl reached on a dropped third strike, which let Whitfield score. Williams finished it off with a two-run double to increase the lead to 16-0.

Meanwhile, Bailey Glaesmann pitched a three inning no-hitter to get the win. Her only blemish was hitting a batter in the first inning.

Next up, the Lady Panthers will face Jewett Leon in the Bi-District Round of the Playoffs. Game One is Thursday at 5:30pm at Caldwell High School. Game Two is Saturday at 3pm at Navasota High School.
