BUURTON SOFTBALL OPENS BI-DISTRICT SERIES WITH LEON

The Burton Lady Panther Softball Team opens up the playoffs with a Bi-District round series against the Jewett Leon Lady Cougars later this (Thursday) evening.

Burton is 13-11 overall and finished 8-4 in District 26-2A, which was good for third place.

The Lady Panthers are lead by Right Handed Pitcher Bailey Glaesmann, a junior, who guided them to all 13 of their wins with a 2.17 ERA, striking out 208 batters in 106 innings pitched. She's thrown multiple no-hitters, and and earlier this season picked up her 700th career strikeout.

Glaesmann is also one of the team's top hitters with a .346 batting average, three home runs, and 17 RBIs.

Burton's leading hitter is Sophomore OF Amaya Williams, who is currently batting .576, with 12 homers and 38 RBIs.

Junior C Reagan Roemer is currently at .524 on the season with two homers and 16 RBIs.

The Lady Panthers are coached by Zach Zorn, who is in his first year with the softball program. Prior to that he was the Panther Head Baseball Coach, and a former assistant coach in the Brenham Baseball program.

Meanwhile, Leon finished in a three way tie for second place in their district along with Grapeland and Centerville.

Leon is has a season record of 15-16, and were 7-5 in District 25-2A, where they were runner-ups to Latexo.

They had a three team playoff for final positioning that was won by the Lady Cougars. Leon beat Grapeland 9-7, and then defeated Centerville 7-3.

The winner faces the Johnson City-Thrall winner in the Area Round of the Playoffs next week.
