CUBS IMPROVE TO 3-0 WITH A 43-22 WIN OVER BRYAN

The Brenham Cubs did not take too kindly to Bryan scheduling them for their homecoming game on Friday night. Homecoming games are usually scheduled for teams that are an "easy win." However, it was Brenham getting the last laugh with a 43-22 victory.

Bryan scored the first touchdown of the game to take an early 7-0 lead. The Cubs would respond by punching it in on a one-yard run by Jordan Harvey. Xyran Upshaw scored the 2-point conversion to give Brenham an early 8-7 lead with 6:57 left in the first quarter.

The Cubs scored on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Harvey to Chris Guidry, but missed the extra point on a bad snap to make it a 14-7 lead in the second quarter.

Brenham would tack on an extra one-yard touchdown run by Harvey with three seconds to go before halftime. Bleu Cienega add the extra point to make it 21-7 Cubs.

In the third quarter, Harvey would hit Cartelle Brown on a 21-yard touchdown pass. Jakoby Dixon added the two-point conversion to give Brenham a 29-7 lead at the 4:46 mark.

Bryan came back with a score to cut the lead to 29-14.

The Cubs would score twice in the fourth quarter. Upshaw found the end zone on an eight-yard run. Harvey then tossed his third touchdown of the night, and second to Brown, from 20 yards out. Cienega added two more extra points to seal the Brenham win.

Next up, the Cubs will host Killeen on Thursday night, September 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm at Cub Stadium with a 6:30pm pregame with Doug Brown and Tommy Lange on KWHI 1280AM, 101.7FM, and KWHI.com.
