BLUEBONNET ELECTRIC AWARDS $63,000 IN GRANTS TO LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS

  

63 local fire departments are going to benefit from the generosity of Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative.

Bluebonnet’s Board of Directors has voted unanimously to award grants of $1,000 each to fire departments in their 14-county service area.

Board Chairman Ben Flencher said that, “Bluebonnet is proud to contribute to our area fire departments who truly do an outstanding job protecting and serving our communities.”

He added that the men and women who work for and volunteer with these fire departments deserve all the support that we can provide.

Fire Departments receiving the grants in Washington County include: Brenham, Burton, Berlin-Mill Creek-Zionsville, Chappell Hill, Gay Hill-Mound Hill-Cedar Hill, Latium-Wesley-Greenvine, Meyersville, Prairie Hill-Rocky Hill, Rocky Creek, Salem, and Washington.

Grants in Austin County went to the fire departments of Bellville, Bleiblerville, Industry, New Ulm, and Shelby.

In Burleson County, the grant money went to Caldwell Fire and Rescue as well as the departments of Beaver Creek, Birch Creek, Black Jack, Cade Lake, Cooks Point, Deanville, Snook, and Somerville.

For Colorado County, the Frelsburg Volunteer Fire Department was the lone recipient.

Meanwhile, in Fayette County, the grants went to the departments of Carmine, Ellinger, Fayetteville, Ledbetter, Muldoon, Round Top-Warrenton, and Winchester.

Over in Lee County, fire departments receiving the grant funds include Blue Branch, Dime Box, Fedor, Giddings, Lexington, Lincoln, Post Oak, South Lee County, and Tanglewood.
