BRENHAM HERITAGE MUSEUM HOSTS MAIFEST KICKOFF EVENT

Around 150 people filled the Brenham Heritage Museum Thursday evening to welcome in the season of Maifest.

The “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Maifest” event treated guests to hors d’oeuvres, mixed drinks, prize drawings and an opportunity to check out the museum’s Maifest exhibit, which showcases regalia from previous years’ Maifest royalty and photos of past Maifest kings and queens.

The exhibit is available for viewing through the end of May.

As part of the occasion, the Brenham Maifest Association presented the museum with a $5,000 donation for the museum’s upcoming Washington County Sports Exhibit.

Co-chairs for Thursday’s event were museum board members Marjorie Routt-Young, Robin Cook and Charlyn Schoenvogel.

Karen Boehnke Thornton (left) and Debbie Lehrmann won prizes from a drawing during the Brenham Heritage Museum's "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Maifest" event on Thursday. Thornton won a table for eight guests at the Brenham Prostfest, donated by the Brenham Maifest Association. Lehrmann won a Celebration Wreath created and donated by Susie Houston.
