CUBETTES DOMINATE HILL COUNTRY TAKEOVER VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
The Brenham Cubettes turned in a flawless performance over the weekend, sweeping through the Hill Country Takeover Tournament with a perfect 5-0 record to bring home the championship trophy. Hosted by Marble Falls High School, the tournament featured tough competition, but the Cubettes rose to the occasion, displaying grit, teamwork, and championship-level volleyball from start to finish.

The weekend opened with pool play, where the Cubettes set the tone early. In their first match, they took down Fredericksburg in straight sets, 25-22 and 25-17, showing strong execution on both sides of the net. Next up was a tight battle against Blanco, where Brenham edged out a hard-fought three-set win: 27-25, 24-26, 15-6. They closed out pool play with another thrilling three-set victory over host Marble Falls, winning 25-18, 23-25, and 15-11.
Advancing into bracket play, the Cubettes squared off against a competitive Copperas Cove team in the semifinals. After dropping the first set in a heartbreaker, 30-29, Brenham regrouped and stormed back to win the next two sets, 25-16 and 15-10, punching their ticket to the championship. Antyiahna Lang led the way 14 kills and three blocks. Hannah Bush added 12 kills and 16 digs. Logan Hayslip led the defense with 17 digs, while Zoe Zwerneman chipped in with 10 digs. Brinley Benson dished out 23 assists followed by Claire Huff, who finished with 12 assists.
In the tournament final, it was a rematch with Marble Falls—and the Cubettes weren’t about to let the host team spoil their perfect run. With sharp focus and determination, Brenham closed out the championship match in straight sets, 25-21 and 27-25, sealing the tournament title in style. On offense, Lang, Bush, Kori Levi, and Maggie Thibodeaux had seven kills each. Huff and Benson each dished out 13 assists. On defense, Hayslip led the Cubettes with 19 digs, while Bush had 15 and Zwernemann finished with 11.
With the 5-0 sweep, the Cubettes not only left the Hill Country with hardware, but also continued building momentum and team chemistry early in the season. They now stand at 11-5 overall at the conclusion of Week 2.
This championship run showcased more than just wins, it was a weekend of growth, bonding, and competitive fire for a team with big aspirations this season.
