TxDOT TO BEGIN INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS MONDAY AT HIGHWAY 290, FM 2679

  

TxDOT is set to begin an intersection improvement project on Monday at Highway 290 and FM 2679, approximately three miles west of Brenham.

The project will install a new traffic signal and widen the roadway in both directions in order to add dedicated right and left turn lanes along Highway 290.  TxDOT says the upgrades are designed to improve traffic flow and safety at the intersection.

Construction will require daily lane closures, beginning with westbound traffic.  Drivers traveling through the area should expect delays and are encouraged to plan for extra travel time or consider alternate routes when possible. 

All drivers are urged to stay alert, follow posted signs and watch for traffic control personnel throughout the duration of the project.

The project is contracted to Cornerstone Paving for $1 million and is expected to be completed by early 2026.
