The Initiative was conducted by eight deputies from the Traffic Enforcement Division.

Lieutenant Phillip Lillibridge, who is the commander of the division, said that the purpose of the Initiative was to make the roadways in Waller County safer, and to raise awareness about the dangers of driving while impaired.

Over the Labor Day Weekend, the deputies made 104 traffic stops, where they issued 54 citations and 54 warnings.

They also made 12 arrests including five DWI’s, five for drug-related offenses, one for Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, and one for Reckless Driving.

In addition to that, the deputies recovered two handguns that were reported stolen.
