FIVE WEEKEND CALLS FOR BRENHAM FD INCLUDE MALFUNCTIONING A/C, GAS SMELL
The Brenham Fire Department responded to three calls on Saturday and two on Sunday.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m. Saturday, units received a report of a structure fire at a home in the 600 block of West Stone Street. They made location to find crews were smoke testing the sewer system.
At 4:15 p.m., members of the Brenham Fire Department and Berlin Volunteer Fire Department were called out for a structure fire at a home in the 1300 block of Betty Lane. They found that the A/C had malfunctioned, causing a smoke smell in the house. The scene was turned over to the resident.
At 5 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a crash in the 2000 block of Highway 290 West. They provided traffic control, returning to service once the scene was cleared.
A few minutes after midnight on Sunday, BFD personnel responded to a fire alarm at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South. They made location to find burnt food in a room, so they ventilated the room and reset the alarm system.
Around 10:15 p.m., units went out to a report of a gas smell outside a home in the 400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. The fire department and City of Brenham Gas Department found no reading on the gas detector, but they did notice a strong odor of sewer. The fire department stayed on location until the City of Brenham Sewer Department arrived to take over the scene.
