TOWN HALLS SET FOR BRENHAM ISD TAX RATE, BOND ELECTIONS
Voters in Brenham ISD are invited next week to the first of two town halls providing more details about a pair of school district propositions coming up in the November election.
The town halls will be held on Monday, September 22nd at 6 p.m. at the Margaret E. Blizzard Senior Activity Center and on Thursday, October 9th at 6 p.m. at the Washington County Expo.
The events are hosted by Citizens Uniting Brenham Schools, which consists of a group of public supporters for Brenham ISD who are dedicated to transparency and improvement for the district.
Attendees will be presented with full details about the two propositions on the ballot this fall. One is the Voter Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) that would increase the property tax rate for the purpose of adding operational funding, which – if approved – would go toward teacher and staff pay raises and additional teaching positions. The other is the $39 million bond measure intended to address capital improvement and maintenance projects without raising the tax rate.
Representatives from Brenham ISD will be available at both town halls to offer additional information and answer questions.
The Brenham School Board called the two elections during its regular August meeting, after receiving recommendations from the district’s strategic planning committee to move forward.
Further details about the proposals can be found at https://brenhamisd.net.
KWHI will broadcast Monday’s town hall on AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com.
Chris Ann Stroech, one of the members of the strategic planning committee, spoke about the proposals and the upcoming town halls during this (Tuesday) morning’s edition of the KWHI Community Corner. The link to listen to the program is available here.
