DOUGLAS CONE NOT SEEKING ANOTHER TERM FOR WASHINGTON CO. PRECINCT 2 J.P., HOLLY JOHNSON ANNOUNCES BID
Judge Douglas Cone is not seeking re-election to the Washington County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace office, and his chief clerk has announced she will seek to fill the position.
Holly Birkelbach Johnson, who has served as Chief Justice Clerk for Judge Cone since 2003, has declared her candidacy for the office in the March Republican primary election. Johnson confirmed that Judge Cone will be retiring from the position after first taking office in 1997.
Johnson says she has developed a deep understanding of the inner workings of the Justice of the Peace office and that she has strived to serve the people of Precinct 2 with distinction and professionalism.
Throughout her tenure, Johnson has completed coursework through the Texas Justice Court Training Center, including over two decades of ongoing legal and procedural training. She has also participated in mental health training programs to handle sensitive court cases.
Johnson is grateful for the experience she has obtained while working with Judge Cone and believes it will allow her to oversee a seamless transition of leadership in the office.
Outside of the courthouse, Johnson has been engaged in the community as a member of the CASA for Kids Board of Directors, the Brenham Police Department’s Citizens Advisory Board, and the Washington County Republican Party Board of Directors’ social media subcommittee. Additionally, she is an active member of the Round Top Do Your Duty Club and an active supporter of the Round Top Rifle Hall.
Holly lives in Brenham with her husband, Terrence, who is employed by the City of Brenham.
