HOSTYN CHURCH PREPARING FOR A BIG WEEKEND

The Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish in Hostyn invites the public to join them this weekend for their annual festival.

The festival commemorates the 194th anniversary of the first Mass celebrated in Hostyn.

The event begins Saturday after the 5pm Mass, where they will hold the groundbreaking for their new church building. The groundbreaking comes more than three years after a gas explosion destroyed their church building and killed parishioner Verlene Kuntschik.

The new church is being built on the site of the old church.

Then, on Sunday, the festivities begin with a 10am Mass outdoors under the tent.

A Hostyn-style dinner will be served from 11am-1pm featuring fried chicken, sausage, and all the trimmings. The plates are $15 each. There is also going to be a drive thru line from 11am-12:30pm.

Hamburgers are going to be available after 3pm.

Entertainment for the day will be provided by the Czech Melody Masters from 11am-3pm, a magic show at 3pm, and the Dujka Brothers from 3:30-7pm.

Other activities planned include a live auction, a silent auction, a country store, drawings, and cake and plant wheels.

The Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish is located six miles south of La Grange off of Highway 77.
