Washington County officials are working to correct air quality issues discovered at the county’s 911 dispatch center.

Baylor Street in Brenham.

In a release this (Wednesday) afternoon, the county says it is conducting on-site CO₂ testing and will send additional air quality samples to a laboratory for analysis.  Test results are expected back by tomorrow (Thursday).

The county says emergency dispatch services remain fully operational while testing is ongoing.  In the event of emergencies, the Navasota Police Department serves as Washington County’s established backup communications center.  The county is also working with the Brazos Valley Council of Governments (BVCOG) to aid in relocating any critical communications equipment if necessary.

The county leases its dispatch center, located at 301 North Baylor Street in Brenham, from the City of Brenham.  City and county maintenance departments will coordinate regarding next steps.

Commissioner Kirk Hanath said this issue has the “full attention” of officials, and that they are “moving swiftly” to ensure the safety of employees and the integrity of the county’s emergency communications.

The county says it will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.
