BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO VOTE ON PROCEEDING WITH OVER $25 MILLION IN SURFACE WATER TREATMENT PLANT IMPROVEMENTS
The Brenham City Council on Thursday will potentially accept a bid for the city’s project to upgrade the surface water treatment plant.
Two bids were submitted to the city for the rehabilitation and expansion of the plant at 1105 South Austin Street. The low bid comes from Dudley Construction, LLC of College Station for $26.97 million, with a deductive bid alternate of $1.2 million bringing the city’s cost to $25.77 million.
In March, the city council authorized the issuance of up to $29.86 million in certificates of obligation for purposes including improvements to the city’s waterworks and sanitary sewer systems and facilities.
Also on Thursday, the council will vote on entering a professional services agreement with Strand Associates for engineering services for Highway 105 main and gravity sewer improvements. The agreement is to provide design, bidding-related and construction-related services for the upgrades, which consist of installing approximately 4,100 linear feet of dual 12-inch force main replacement and 3,800 linear feet of 24-inch and 30-inch gravity sanitary sewer main. The cost of the agreement is not to exceed $280,000.
Additionally, councilmembers will look to accept a bid to remove old water meters and install new ones. The lowest of 12 bids received is from Meter Matters at $147,826.
In other business, the council will:
- Vote on the appointment of Gabriela Trejo as Deputy City Secretary.
- Act on the purchase of two Paco KP horizontal split case pumps for the city’s water treatment plant, at a cost of $55,813.
- Consider a multi-year agreement for third-party data integration from Axon Enterprises, Inc. in the amount of $76,846.
- Hold executive session discussion regarding the purchase, exchange or acquisition of real property for City of Brenham Electric Department improvements and facilities. No action is scheduled to be taken.
