FAYETTEVILLE LICKSKILLET DAYS FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

The Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce is making final preparations for this weekend’s Lickskillet Days Festival.

The 48th annual edition of the festival runs Saturday and Sunday on the historic Fayetteville square, with food, shopping, entertainment and family-friendly activities.

Vendor booths will open at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.  Beer, wine and soft drinks will be available at the Lion’s Club beverage booth, starting at noon both days.  A hamburger sale supporting the Fayetteville Baseball Alumni Association starts at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Also on Saturday, a ticketed performance from Elvis impersonator Ralph Elizondo will take place at the Fayetteville Community Center beginning at 5 p.m.  That will be followed from 7 to 10 p.m. by a street dance with Sean Orr & Texas Gold.

Sunday opens with the Cedars of Lebanon coffee and bake sale from 8 to 10 a.m., followed by the Lickskillet Parade at 10:30 a.m.  The Fayetteville Championship Baseball Team will be serving as the grand marshal.

A barbecue meal will be served at 11 a.m., with advance tickets sold for $15 at Fayetteville Bank, Joe’s Place and Orsak’s Café.

Scholarship awards will be presented at 11:30 a.m., and there will be Czech singing and dancing performances.  A live auction gets underway at 12:30 p.m., and the Southern Stars Band will perform from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the event benefit future Greater Fayetteville Chamber activities and community projects.
