MANOR NEW TECH SPOILS THE HOME OPENER FOR BURTON SOFTBALL 24-8

The Burton Lady Panther Softball Team got the year started off on a rough note with a 24-8 loss to Manor New Tech. The Lady Titans, who are a 4A Team, jumped on the Lady Panthers early and often.

Manor New Tech scored ten runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back.

Burton got three runs back in the bottom of the first inning on a two-run homer by Amaya Williams and a solo homer by Paige Fritsch to cut the New Tech lead to 10-3

The Lady Titans added two more runs in the second and seven in the third to increase their advantage to 19-3.

In the bottom of third, Natalie Hodde reached on a single, and Williams unloaded her second two-run homer of the game. Fritsch hit another solo shot, which cut the New Tech lead to 19-6.

The Lady Titans added five more runs in the top of the fourth to increase the score to 24-6.

Burton loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth. Both Williams and Fritsch drew walks to bring in two more runs and get it down to 24-8, but that would be as close as Burton came.

Natalie Hodde took the loss in the circle.

Next up, Burton will host Madisonville on Tuesday at 5pm.
