70TH WASHINGTON CO. SPELLING BEE TUESDAY

  

Students around Washington County will compete tonight (Tuesday) to be named the county’s best speller.

The 70th Washington County Spelling Bee will be held starting at 6 p.m. at the Brenham High School Auditorium.

The winner tonight will advance to the Bee Brilliant: HCC Regional Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 28th and compete at a regional level.

The public is invited to attend the Washington County Spelling Bee in person or listen to KWHI’s live broadcast on AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com.  KWHI has been a sponsor of the spelling bee since its inception in 1955 and has provided cash prizes to the top three spellers at the event each year.

This year's Spelling Bee participants include:

Alton Elementary School

  • Destinee Crathers, 3rd grade student, daughter of Charlotte Flores
  • Brantley Evans, 4th grade student, son of Heidi Evans
  • Hugo Soto, 3rd grade student, son of Hugo and Victoria Soto
