TWO KILLED IN LEE CO. HOUSE FIRE
Two people were killed in a house fire Sunday morning in Lee County.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called out around 6:30 a.m. after dispatchers were informed of a loud explosion and flames reported in the 1100 block of County Road 219, near the Serbin community.
Deputies and members of the South Lee County Volunteer Fire Department arrived and found a fully involved structure fire at a residence, which was deemed a total loss. Two residents of the home were determined to be unaccounted for.
Investigators from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, State Fire Marshal’s Office and Texas Rangers were called in. Once the fire was out, they found two bodies within the charred remains of the home.
The bodies will be sent to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies. Next of kin for the suspected victims have been notified, but the victims’ identities will not be released until the medical examiner’s office can make positive identification.
Investigation into what caused the fire is ongoing.
