GRIMES COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS IN PRISON FOR METH POSSESSION
A Grimes County man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for Possession of Methamphetamine during the latest 12th District Court session before Judge David Moorman.
Prior to the start of his jury trial on Monday, 53-year-old Calvin Harris accepted a plea agreement that was made by Assistant District Attorney Tammy Thomas.
Harris was facing a habitual offender punishment range because of numerous prior felony convictions, including two different robberies.
Navasota Police Officer Evan Peterson made a traffic stop on Harris back on March 11, 2025 for traveling on the wrong side of the roadway.
Peterson was informed by dispatch that Harris had two active arrest warrants, including a pending drug charge in Waller County.
While making the arrest, Officer Peterson also found methamphetamine on his person.
Harris, who had been out on bond, was arrested again back on January 14, 2026 for theft from a local business.
District Attorney Andria Bender said that Harris has been committing violent crimes, thefts, and other felony offenses in Grimes County for decades.
She added that she hopes this sentenced will give local police and the community some relief from dealing with his criminal behavior.
