WASHINGTON CO. BURN BAN LIFTED

Washington County has lifted its burn ban.

County Judge John Durrenberger announced at the beginning of today’s (Tuesday) county commissioners meeting that the ban would be lifted at 10 a.m. today.  The ban has been in effect since February 13th.

Durrenberger said after a poll of the county’s 10 volunteer fire department chiefs, six were in favor of lifting the ban, three voted to keep the ban in place, and one abstained.

Grimes and Waller counties have also lifted their burn bans, while the bans in Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Colorado and Lee counties remain in effect.  Fayette County’s 90-day burn ban ordered on December 8th expired on Sunday, but county commissioners will hold a special meeting at 11:30 a.m. Friday to consider putting the ban back into place.
