SATURDAY’S CHILIFEST ACTIVITIES CANCELED

After just one night of activities, the remainder of Chilifest 2026 has been cancelled.

Festival organizers in coordination with the Burleson County Sheriff's Office, the Burleson County Judge, Chilifest traffic and safety personnel, and local first responders released a statement this (Saturday) morning.

The statement says that they have determined that the extreme mud conditions from Friday's weather and rain event have made it impossible for EMS, fire departments, and emergency services to access the venue safely.

Heavy mud tracked onto FM 60 required a temporary road closure of the highway for public safety.

Organizers said that after speaking with authorities, they made the "difficult, but necessary" decision to prioritize the safety of their attendees, artists, staff, volunteers, and the broader community above all else.

The statement goes on to say that they are grateful that Friday's events were able to proceed successfully thanks to the hard work of their security team, first responders, law enforcement partners, staff, and volunteers.

Organizers closed by saying, they sincerely apologize for the disappointment this causes, and that they appreciate the public's understanding that they are putting safety first.

They also invited everyone back for next year's Chilifest.

It was a busy evening for the Burleson County Sheriff's Office. Deputies made 35 arrests, with 12 of those arrests being Minors in Possession or Consumption. Twelve other individuals were also cited and released for various offenses.
