BLINN SOFTBALL OPENS REGION XIV TOURNAMENT WITH A 2-1 WIN OVER NAVARRO

The Blinn Buccaneer Softball Team opened up Region XIV Tournament with a 2-1 win in ten innings over the Navarro Bulldogs this (Wednesday) afternoon.

Blinn pitcher Brynn Gallamore and Navarro pitcher Triniti Tapley engaged in quite a pitcher's duel.

The game was scoreless all the way until the top of the sixth inning. Navarro scored the first run off of an RBI single by Kassidy Dressman that brought home Maliyah Teinart to make it 1-0, Bulldogs.

The Bucs tied it up 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning. Halle Scheel reached on a bunt single. Daniela Lopez followed with another single that advanced Scheel to third. Scheel would later score the tying run on a wild pitch.

The game stayed tied until the bottom of the tenth inning. For the Bucs, Presli Moebes reached on a one-out single. Avery Marquart came into the game as a pinch runner, and she quickly stole second. The next batter, Skylar Flanagan, ground one to second base, but after an error at first base, Marquart came all the way around to score the game winning run. The final was Blinn 2 Navarro 1.

Brynn Gallamore pitched an incredible game throwing 135 pitches, going 9 1/3 innings, allowing 7 hits, only 1 earned run, while walking 3, and striking out 7. However, Madisyn Bracknell got the win in the circle after coming in to get the last two outs.

Next up, the Bucs will face the winner of Trinity Valley-Galveston in a Winner's Bracket game tomorrow (Thursday) evening at 5pm. The tournament is being hosted by San Jacinto College in Houston.
